The primary mission at GIUDA is to educate students to be innovative, intelligent, and effective stewards of the built environment in Taiwan . Through teaching, research, and service, students have an opportunity to foster a broad view of managing and conserving built environment on a sustainable basis, and to develop individual knowledge, skills, and techniques which are necessary to respond the challenge in future.

Educational Objectives

The overarching educational objectives at GIUDA are:

  • to reinforce the studies on urban development and architecture in southern Taiwan, considering future development in the country.
  • to set up an interdisciplinary program emphasizing the use of sustainable planning and design methods for the century 21, which also takes into account the changes of global society and the environmental issues.
  • to create a regional and international academic network relating to the sustainability of urban development and architecture, which is able to support the decision-making of national policy in Taiwan, such as the establishment of the “Green Silicon Island” or the “Asia-Pacific Regional Operations Center”.
