Department of Traditional Arts
Development Direction

The establishment of the Department of Traditional Arts is primarily dedicated to the research of craft and folk arts in Taiwan. Our focus is on the artistic development quality of traditional carving, especially of stone carving. The Department seeks to cultivate artistic talents in the creation and design of traditional crafts and applied arts, whilst creating an active and innovative curriculum that best serves our students, and that means we wish to inaugurate a vigorous epoch in arts and crafts. The inheritance of traditional artistic techniques is the foundation on which creations of all genres of art may be well developed. Within the domain of the creation of arts ad crafts, we expect to break through environmental restrictions, shape the thoughts of a new era, and compare different artistic characteristics of different ethnic groups on the island so as to bring our local arts into play
